Presentation of the Digitisation of TAB d.d. (DIGITAB) project

At the TAB d.d. event in Mežica on Thursday 26 January 2023, the consortium partners presented the Digital Transformation of TAB d.d. (DIGITAB) project.

Digitalisation is crucial for TAB because it increases the efficiency of the company, lowers operating costs, increases the competences of employees... The project is supported by the state and involves Slovenian companies, mainly from the local environment, including our company Stroka produkt d.d.

The DIGITAB project will benefit from €1.63 million of EU funding under the Slovenian Recovery and Resilience Plan, under the call for proposals "Digital Transformation of the Economy". The total value of the project is €3.08 million. The investment is part of the actions of the EU-funded Slovenian plan - NextGenerationEU. TAB expects to receive 44% of the grant, while the other consortium partners expect around 60%. TAB will contribute about half of the unfunded part of the funds, while the remaining half will be jointly provided by the other consortium partners.

The TAB d.d. digitisation project started in October 2021 and is expected to run until April 2024.

About the project

TAB and its consortium partners aim to develop new technologies that will allow remote monitoring of batteries in use, using data generated by IoT technology. The data generated will be used to analyse the condition of batteries, improve battery quality and develop new business models, such as "Battery as a Service", where the company will no longer sell products as such, but batteries as a service. Using VR and AR technologies, a platform will be developed to allow remote support for service and virtual training of new staff. The project will improve the monitoring of technological and environmental parameters during battery production and digitally sign the traceability of production by recording this data using blockchain.

"At Stroka produkt, we have been developing solutions and upgrading our skills in the field of digital transformation since 2015. As a partner in the DIGITAB project, we will take care of capturing large amounts of data from "smart" batteries, the technical development of a predictive state-of-charge (SoC) model of lead-acid batteries (supported by AI), the development of the TAB BMS CLOUD platform that will represent the digital twin of the battery online and the serving of relevant data from the developed subsystems to the Industrial IoT Datacenter. For us, participation in the project represents an upgrade of our cooperation with TAB d.d., an increase of our competences and expertise in the fields of Internet of Things (IoT), BigData, Machine Learning within the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a successful networking with partners." Sandi Markon, owner and CEO of Stroka produkt d.o.o., said about his participation in the project.

The funding for the project is provided by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Facility, NextGenerationEU.
